Pretty Evening Wedding
LAWSON—HARRIS A very pretty evening wedding was celebrated at All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, on September 20, when Evelyn Freda, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Frederick Harris, of Lower Hutt, and formerly of Palmerston North, was married to Clement Stansfield, second son of Mr and Mrs W. M. Lawson, of Palmerston North. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. Canon G. Y. Woodward, and Mr J. Holmes Runniclcs presided at the organ.
The bride, who was given away by her father wotc a charming frock of white satin cut on classical lines, slimfitting and flared, with long sleeves puffed above tho elbows. Her embroidered tullo veil, which formed a long train, was held to her head with side posies of orange blossom. A pearl necklet, satin, shoes, and trailing sliowor of freesias and viburnum carlesi, completed a most attractive toilette. There were two bridesmaids in attendance, Miss Alice Harris, sister of the bride, and Miss Olive Hansen, licr cousin, who wore pretty frocks of pale pink lace made with close-fitting corsages end flared skirts, frilled epaulettes forming the sleeves. They also wore pink mittens, lace caps trimmed with goorgetto flowers and velvet ribbon, matching shoes of satin, and carried sheafs of palest pink heath and pink pearl rhodo bolls with pink streamers.
Mr John Lawson, of Christchurch, supported his brother as best man, and Mr S. Judd, of Palmerston North, was groomsman.
The reception following was held at Messrs Collmson and . Cunninghamo’s, -where tho floral decorations were carried out in shades of pink. About 75 guests were received by Mr and Mrs Harris, tho latter wearing a black georgette and lace ensemble with black chip-straw hat. Mrs Lawson, mother of tho bridegroom, wore wine crepo do chine with black coat and black tagcl straw hat. Congratulations woro offered and toasts honoured, that of the bride and bridegroom being proposed by Mr A. Johansen, of Pahiatua. Later the guests repaired to the residence of tho bridegroom’s parents, where tho beautiful presents received by the young couple were on view. Theso included a handsome silver tea service, presented to tho bridegroom by tho management of Messrs Justice and Edmunds and a striking-clock from the staff of that firm, of which the bridegroom is a member. Opportunity was taken by the bride and bridegroom to present tokens to their bridesmaids, a silver sandwich dish to Miss Harris and a, bedroom clock to Miss Hansen. Mr and Mrs Lawson left later by car for the north, the bride travelling in a nigger brown French model frock, a baku straw hat, bronze shoes, and a musquash fur coal.
