annual report presented ■ The annual report of the Optimists’ Cricket Club is as follows:— "It affords great pleasure to announce that our club has once again been successful in winning tho T. E. Moore cup presented for the mid-week competitions under tho auspices of the Manawatu Cricket Association. Although only in cxis once two years we have won the cup cm both occasions. We cannot spear too highly of our members in (the way they play the game and in their loyal financial support. In the matter o' furnishing material, our club is great > indebted to tho other clubs, especially P.D.C. and Combined Services Clubs. Tn the past two years these clubs have helped us materially, and our club wishes to thank all teams. for their support, which we hope will continue for the present season. The past season has been an exceptionally long one the team having played games (compared with 13 for 1931-32 season). Last year we won 13 games, lost , drew 3, and had six 4-point wins. It was tho latter that gave us tho honours. for tho teams were so close thathere was only 14 points difference between first and second. Strnngo to say, although winning the cup twice, we have not anv member with a ccnturj his credit. The best batting averse of the past season goes to C. M--lin who unfortunately will not bo with as ’this season. Batting averages are: lhllin, 403 runs, averago 33.07; Evans, <-,0 runs, average 30.6; Rice, 306 runs, average '22.2: Miller, 207 runs, aver■!<rc 20.7. P. Rice leads the bowling averages with remarkable figures, although the long season helped him to attain his 100 wickets. Bowling fig; arcs are: Rice, 101 wickets tor bU nms average 5.03; Hicken, 10 wickets, - Y era rr e 13: ‘McGregor, 59 wickets, aw erage~'j 3.4;' Evans, IS wickets, average In conclusion wc wish to thank the Manawatu Cricket Association for all it has done for us in the past:, and we r.Lo wish to thank Mr B. Brace, secrc'farv of the association, for tho way in which be has always proved, willing to obli fr e and help us in any way.
