A 'very enjoyable evening- was held on Tuesday evening under the 3,uspices of the Manawatu Scottish. . Society's Pipe Band Committee. There were many local people present and also several car loads of enthusiasts who accompanied the band. There were several items given during the evening. Miss Thomson sang two delightful songs and Mr. Thomson gave several aecordeon items acoompaniel by Miss Thomson. Miss K, Williams accompanied Miss Thomson with her singing and Miss Jean Scott presented tho Sheauntriubhs and as an encore gave a very spirited exhibition of tho Highland Fling. Piper Smith accompanied Miss Scott with the pipes. Music for dancing was supplied by a professional orchestra and Piper E, Smith made a very capable M.C. Supper was served by lady helpers of the band. Among those present were Mesdames R, Guy, black crepe; C. Osman, green satin; H. Morgan, G. Williams, Corlett, M. Wilton, green figured; L. Gilmour, petunia, crepe; J. Boote, red satin; A. Buker, floral georgette; M. Pope, white flat crepe; T. McLaggan (Palmerston North), black lace: J. Scott (Palmerston North), pink satin; B. Corlett. maize taffeta; M. Clapham, rod satin; V. Guy, pink organdie; G. Guy, yellow floral organdie; D. Wilton, pink satin; N. Ennis, pink satin; Z. Guy, white; N„ Butters, pale blue crepe and black cape; N. Davies (Linton), red satin; Silvia Davies (Linton), red satin and lace; R. Young (Opiki), lemon taffeta and lace; A. Ferris, lemon satin; H. Ferris, red satin; H. Lang (Palmerston North), blue lace and georgette; F. Highfleld (Palmerston North), black velvet and lace;' L. Crawford (Palmerston North), green lace; B'.
