Rongotea
From Our Own Correspondent. Women's Institute. Approximately 220 women from all parts of the district were present at the group meeting held In Rongotea on Tuesday afternoon. The visitors were welcomed by Mrs. Roy Scott, president of tho Rongotea Institute, after whloh the "Ode to Friendship” was sung. It was suggested by a delegate from the A.wahuri branch that a. competition be held for the best summer jumper made from New Zealand wool to cost no more than 4s. The suggestion was adopted and_ decided upon to make the competition inter-institute and inter-group. It was also decided to form a circulating library. A suggestion arose regarding the institute cookery book, but it was decided upon, as being a matter for tho federation to arrange. At the conclusion of the business part of the afternoon, the following delightful programme was rendered: —Pianoforte solo, Miss N. Croad (Ranglotu); vocal solo, Miss F. Doherty (Kairanga); Mrs. Churchill, address on National Pageant; guitar selections, Miss Smith (Talkorea); recitation, Miss D. Capp (Kairanga); playette by the Oroua Downs institute, the players being Mrs. N. Scott, Mrs. A. 11. Hobbs and Miss Margaret Scott. Mrs. Kelso, the secretary of the Dominion Federation, then/ gave a very interesting address, and stated that the membership of the Women’s Institute throughout New Zealand has now reached between three and four thousand . The next group meeting is to be held in Bulls and it was decided that this group, made up of Manawatu and Rangitikel Institutes, be called "Kohohitanga” group.
