Tho third day of tho A.J.C. spring meeting was continued at Randwick today. Tho courso was in good order and tho attendance 21,000. Tho Mirror, which received strong support from Trainer Webster in the Brush Hurdles, ran a fair ace and finished fourth.
Silver Scorn gave tho best exhibitionof her galloping ability to date in the Craven Plate and ran within a length of the speedy Chatham approaching the turn. She hung on well in the straight and finished a close fourth.
Visage, the New Zealand-bred filly, a full sister to Vcilmond, won tho Gimcrack Stakes in a style reminiscent of her famous brother.
Tlie stewards held an inquiry into the running of Movie Star in the Suburban Handicap and the explanation of his connection's was accepted. Results were: —■ MEMBERS ’ HANDICAP: BURLESQUE, 3.10 (Webb) 1 Safari, 7.2 (Knox) 2 Out Back, 7.10 (Laycock) .... 3 Nine starters. Rapsonia and Out Back made the early running. Turning for home, Gothlin showed tho way to Windbird, Burlesque and Out Back. Taking charge at tho distance, Burlesque won by half a length. Time, 2.SJ. SYDNEY HANDICAP: MILANTHEON, 7.12 (Reed) 1 Dalmatic, 7.10 (Lightfoot) ~ 2 Pretzel, 9.4 (Munro) ...... 3 Seven starters. Potent acted as pacemaker to the half-mile, where ho was joined loy Milantheon and Magnitas, closely followed by Pretzel. When heads were straightened for home, Milantheon had a slight advantage over Potent, Magnitas and Pretzel. In a close finish Milantheon secured the prize by half a head. Time, 2.361. SECOND BRUSH HURDLES: PHOCIS, 11:2 (Hynes) • 1 Bridge and Bow, 10.1 (Douglas) 2 Master Colin, 9.12 (Lillyman) . 3 Ten starters. Phoois led at the half-mile. Then Brldgo and’Bow took, charge and led by threo lengths into the straight. Phocis finished fast on the rails and failed by a short neck to reach Bridge and Bow. Time, 4.26. A protest, regarding interference in tho straight was upheld and Phocis was placed first. CRAVEN PLATE: CHATHAM, 9.4 (Pike) ...... 1 Kuvcra, 9.0 (McCarten) .... 2 Lough Neagh, 9.1 (Tanwan) .. 3 The other starters were Herolago and Silver Scorn. Chatham commenced smartly and led from Lough Neagh, Kuvera and Silver Scorn. Approaching tho turn, Silver Scorn was within a length of Chatham, closely followed by Lough Neagh and Kuvera. In the last furlong, Lough Neagh and Kuvera drew level with Chatham, but the latter came again under punishment to secure tho verdict by half a neck. Time, 2.6*. GIMCEACK STAKES: VLSAGE, 8.0 (McCarten) .... J 1-laut Coeur, 8.0 (Skelton) .... 2 Myra Tip, 8.0 (Bartle) ...... 3 Thirteen starters. Bonnie Rion led early from Altruda, Bonnie Rion and Visage. First into tho straight, Visage, on tho outside, finished strongly to win by half a length. Time, 1.8. SUBURBAN HANDICAP: DERMID, 8.12 (Cook) ...... 1 Whittingham, 8.6 (Heather) .. 2 Eanckero, 7.11 (Stead) 3 Fifteen starters. After Camargo and Havaspot had made the early running from Dcrmid, the last-named took charge and turning for homo won comfortably by three lengths. Time, 1.38. Testing Winooka’s Ability JAMESTOWN SUGGESTED AS OPPONENT Received Wednesday, 10 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. -3. Mr. George Winder’s live-year-old Jamestown has been suggested to tost Winooka’s ability to race Equipoise. Mr. Naylor said he would like a match with Jamestown at three-quar-ters of a mile between. October 18 and 21.
He suggested that the purse for the Winooka-Equipoiso race be between 10,000 and 25,000 dollars, the winner to take all.
