At the Labour Party Conference, Lord Ponsonby said that only someone sitting in the Houso of Lords realised the necessity for its abolition,
“I welcome tho Socialist League’s proposal to ask the King to appoint 600 new peers, but doubt whether it is the best method of tackling the problem, as revision of the whole Parliamentary machine is essential,” he added.
