From Our Own Correspondent. The death occurred last week after a brief illness of Miss Elsie Hill, Bged 2She was the eldest daughter of Mr. Albert Hill who resided for Eome yeais in Shannon and district, and was a bright ®oung woman witli a happy disposition and very popular, making numerous frlend3 in and around the town. Taking suddenly 111, she was ordered feo the Palmerston North Hospital where It was found that peritonitis had developed. An operation was performed but she failed to rally and passed away. The family has the sympathy of her numer°UFarme?s S iocally arc complaining of the difficulty of getting certain classes of sheep and cattle. There are so few °ifering for sale that many farmers are unlade to obtain the quantities they desire. This is accounted for no doubt by th mild weather conditions experienced dartag the early spring. Feed is row everywhere abundant and indications point towards a record dairying and fattening Ee Th°c\nen of the Mukapai unemployment camp have formed a cricket club and are using any makeshift material that is available. The camp has had little in the way of gifts of books, magazines, etc., and anyone who lias literature of any description _ that can be spared is invited to send it to the camp where it would be greatly aPPreciatedby the men If parcels are left at Hydes shop they will be delivered and duly a °The W Shannon Cricket Club has been bard at work preparing for the coming season and the pitch and oval are now beginning to take on a summer-time appearance.
