The Badminton Club
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice in your issue of Friday's date that at a meeting of the Manawatu Kennel Club the chairman stated that “we"—whoever “We” may be—“once learned from Mr Watson that badminton could never hold its orvn in Palmerston North, but it has been going ahead for four years.” I see no reason why Mr Kissling should bring badminton matters into a discussion on dog shows, but my recollection of my only communication with the Badminton Club is that in its early days I was invited to become patron. I replied that I could not accept the honour without some information as to the programme and prospects of the club. I am. interested in any clean sport and a wellwisher of the Badminton Club, but how far :it has gone ahead may be judged from the fact that Levin, a very much smaller centre, has beaten Palmerston North on each occasion when their representative teams have met, the match at Levin last August resulting in a win for the home team by 23 rubbers to 1. —I am, etc., H. N. WATSON. Palmerston North, Oct. 7.
