England's Largest Carillon
The recent addition of five bells to the carillon that has stood in Wcsteroft Park, near Chobhara, Surrey, for the past seven years, makes it the largest in England. The building in which the bells are hung is in the quiet park of Mr H. O. Scrpell, who is in his 81st. year. When Mr Serpell was a lad living at Plymouth he learned to love the sound of church bells and determined that some day he would have a peal of his own. His carillon now consists of 25 bells, and can be heard every Sunday afternoon. Crowds of people arc attracted by the beautiful playing of these bells, the largest of which weighs three-quarters of a ton.
