TOO BUSY TOO GROW
Percy, the rather small office-hoy had •worked for over a year at the same job, and during that time Ms salary had not risen above ten shillings a week. One day he plucked up courage to ask his employer for a rise. “How much would you like"” asked his employer. “Well,” pondered Percy, “I don’t think another fivo shillings would break the firm.” “But, my dear 'boy,” laughed the; other, “you’re rather a small person to be earing fifteen shillings a week.” “Yes, I suppose I am, sir,” replied Percy. “I know I’m small for my age, but since I’ve been here I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to grow.’ He got the rise!
