Dual roles in pictures have always boon interesting. Even in the days of silent films the technical difficulties en-

countered in making one actor play two parts, especially when the two characters were called upon to meet at one timo or another, were sufficient to make this typo of picture infrequently seen. W'hcn the screen found its voice these technical difficulties were increased i mmeasurably. All credit, then to the Twickenham studios for the manner in which they have handled “The Iron Stair,’’ which begins at the Rosy on October 25, with “Cross Eire.’’

In “The Iron Stair” Henry Kendall, the London stage actor, plays the double parts of twin brothers. These ■brothers, Goorge and Geoffrey, are frequently on the screen at the same time, and in giving credit to the technicians responsible, a word must be reserved for the manner in which Henry Kendall has managed to portray these two different characters. For George and Geoffrey are as dissimilar in character as they are similar in features. George 'is a waster while Geoffrey is steadygoing.
