Vines, U.S. Tennis Stars Joins the Cash Ranks

Vines, the former U.S. tennis champion, .has turned professional, W. T. 'l'ilden announced on Monday, and will make his professional debut against Tilden in Madison Square Garden on January 10. Ho lias signed a one-year contract on terms which Tilden Tefused to disclose. •‘I will not discuss the terms, except to say they arc mutually satsifactory and that Vines has signed a contract with me," Tilden declared. ‘‘l do wish to make it clear that tines had no agreement and did not sign anything until after he finished his amateur career in the Pacific SouthWest tournament last month at Los Angeles.' ’ Later to Tour With Tilden’s Tennis Troupe Received Tuesday, 10.20 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 10. It.is understood that Vines will bo paid 25,000 dollars for eight months’ play and has been guaranteed an additional like amount for advertising testimonials and other sources.
