Energy From Geysers
According to messages from Leghorn, Italy, the appearance in the boraxbearimg district of Lardcrello, in tho |Val di Ceeina, of a new geyser (soffl--1 one), has suggested the idea that this | geyser, together with those which [gushed up in 1931 and 1932, should be ! utilised for electrical energy for the ' railways. The new geyser, which has a diameter of 10in., is said to emit steam with a pressure of four atmospheres and a temperature of 190 deg. Centigrade (37-ldeg. Fahrenheit). It is reported that the careful.observations which have been kept of the two previous geysers have shown that they have maintained their energy practically constant at. all seasons. Therefore, as the three geysers together develop about 20,000 kilowatts of energy, it is suggested that thev may profitably be applied to the railway between Florence and Rome,
