The Public Works Department ado vised the Kairanga County Council yes? terday that the Highways Board wa® prepared to grant a subsidy of £I4OO (£2 for £1) for tho purpose of continue ing tho sealing of the BunnythorpeKairanga road, to Bunnythorpe. It was suggested that a one tar coat be carried out over tho whole two miles, the second bitumen coat to bo done next financial year. Tho acting engineer (Mr. L. C. Pickering) reported that immediately the letter was received he had got in touch with Crs. Mercer and Anderson and secured their consent to forwarding plans to tho Highways Board. Since then a start had been made with the shoulders on tho road. The council agreed that the advice from tho Department was good news.
