United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7.30 p.m. RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 10.
A six-Powcr anti-war pact among South American countries and ten bilateral accords between Brazil and Argentina were signed to-day in the presence of the Argentine and Brazilian Presidents and scores of Ministers and diplomats. The anti-war treaty, which was signed by Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Paraguay, in addition to Argentina and Brazil, sets up South American conciliation machinery complementing the Kollogg-Briand Pact. It outlaws aggressive wars and forbids tho forcible acquisition of territory. The signatories did not include Bolivia, which is at war with Paraguay over tho Gran Chaco territory.
Neither Peru nor Colombia signed the pact, which is framed to include all the South American nations. They indicated, as did Ecuador, that they wished further time to study the outcome of the disputes over the Upper Amazon territory, notably Leticia.
