New Produce Contract Should Be Excellent
BIG SAVING IN FREIGHT ON REFRIGERATED CARGO Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An arrival by the Tamaroa to-day was Mr David Jones, chairman of the Meat Producers' Board, who, with Mr W. A, lorn?, chairman of t.ho Dairy Produce Board, visited England torenew freight contracts. “I was satisfied that the new contract will lie an excellent one for New Zealand," he said, interviewed on his arrival. “The reduction amounts lo 7.05 per cent, off the previous meat rate, and the total saving in freight on refrigerated cargo will lie about £IBO,OOO a year.” Mr Jones added tnat, although the Meat Board did not control wool freights, he had entered into negotiations for a reduction in those, in addition, and had also arranged for an. improvement in the regularity of ar rival of ships at Great Britain, which would mean a considerable increase in the number of scheduled departures from New Zealand. The quantity of meat actually on the water had a very important bearing on the stability of tho market in Britain, and Mr Jones was satisfied that as a result of the new agreement, this position will be very much improved. He mnetioned that the Blue Star ine had been made a fourth party to the contract and this, he considered, was another good move for New Zeafe/ssd}.--" ....
