The Late Mr H. E. Holland
SYMPATHY OP FEILDING BOROUGH COUNCIL
Mention and recognition of the passing of Mr H. E. Holland, leader of the Opposition, was made at last evening's meeting of the Feilding Borough Council by the Mayor (Mr C- E. Taylor), who said that there could be no doubt about it. that the Dominion as a whole recognised in the late leader of the Labour Party a man of sincere convictions. His Worship recalled chairing a recent meeting addressed by Mr Holland, and on that occasion he could not help being struck with the sincerity of the man. One was not called upon to agree with everything that he expounded—that was quite by the way —nevertheless there was every evidence of his sincerity. He had served, a long time in Parliament and the tragic cud marked that ho laid down his life in the performance of his duties. His Worship moved that the council extend to Mrs Holland and to members of Mr Holland's family its sympathy on behalf of the town, at the very tragic passing of the leader of the Opposition, and also to Mr Savage, the deputy-leader of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives, the council's sympathy in the loss of the party’s leader, The motion was carried in silence.
