Business Girls Meet at Lunch
MISS 0. ASHTON, THE SPEAKER At tho fortnightly lunch of the Business Girls’ Lunch Club, held at Messrs. Collinson and Cunningham’a yesterday, Miss B. Garmon t presided and introduced Miss C. Ashton, the speaker for the day. Miss Carmont reminded members that the monthly social would take the form of a "mystery” evening the proceeds from which would, go to-assist the candidature of the Betailers’ Queen, Miss Edna Boon. Mr. W. H. Brown waited on the club members to outlino activities for the carnival and soliciting support for the retailers’ queen. Miss Ashton spoke briefly on ’’Psychology’'’ as related to the development of personality. She stressed the fact that to be a complete person there were three main adjustments for each individual to make namely, adjustment to society, to the potential mate, and to the Infinite. The speaker then touched on tho development of character and the materials with which the individual had to work, the hereditary factors of nervous temperament and the instincts, and those of environment, She specially stressed tho importance of the early years of a child and concluded with a short reforence to mental conflicts which wero the main cause of disunity of mind. Miss Carmont thanked Hiss Ashton on behalf of the members. Apologies were tendered on behalf of Mesdames Aitchison and Nathan, Misses Cooksley, Turner and Grant.
