Winooka-Equipoise Race "Still in Air
trouble over distance United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. Received Thursday, 7.5 p.m. NEW’ YORK, Oct. 11. Laurel track officials announced that the conditions for tho Winooka “tryout” race on October 10 would be for three-year-olds aud up, distance 6 furlongs and weight 101 b below sale. The purso will be 2500 dollars, with 250 dollars subscription for each entrant added. Character, who is a possible starter, ran first in a race to-day over six furlongs in 1.11 2-5, only l-sscc. slower than tho track record. The Naylor-Whitney negotiations for a match race between Equipoise-and Winooka have apparently reached an impasse. Mr Naylor will consider no distance in excess of seven furlongs, but is remaining hero until Friday. There is a possibility that Mr Whitney will agree to a shorter distance. If a Tace with Equipoise is not arranged, Mr Naylor suggests a threecornered Taco between Winooka, Jamestown and Gold Step.
