Coming-of-age Pleasantly Market
Mr and Mrs U. Anderson gave a jolly little dance in the Fitzhorbert East Hall on Friday, October G, to celebrate the eoming-of-age of their oldest daughter, Muriel. The hall was charmingly decorated with streamers, nikau palms, kowhai, and bowls oi arum lilies. Miss Anderson was wearing a pretty frock of pink georgette and lace. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs L. Field, while Mr N. Hopcroft and Miss M. Smith were the winners of the lucky Gay Gordons. A lucky parcel caused much amusement, and was linally won by Mr J. Hopcroft. When the large pink birthday cake, ornamented with 21 candles, was cut, Mr Hopcroft proposed. the toast of the guest of honour, Mr Anderson suitably responding on behalf of his daughter. Dancing was continued until a late hour, when a very enjoyablo evening was brought to a close.
