FEILDING STOCK SALE CATTLE FAIR VALUES. YOUNG CATTLE SELL WELL. Over 3000 head of cattle came forward for the annual cattle fair at Fcilding yesterday, the event attracting widespread interest and drawing to the town a large number of visiting farmers from all parts of the province as well as from the lving Country. Generally speaking, the offering came forward in good condition, the younger stock being perhaps the more attractive in this respect. The sale opened with an atmosphere of hesitancy among operators who were obviously holding back to feel the market. The older cattle came under the hammer iirst and the early sales established that values for these were slightly easier than those prevailing a fortnight back. With this adjustment the sale progressed steadily with the market quite strong. When the younger stock were offered, interest quickened and there was a definite appreciation in values with yearling P.A. steers to £3 7s (id. Ail young stock experienced a keen market and the fair demonstrated a very healthy enquiry for good cattle. Fat sheep were yarded in limited numbers when values lirmed for heavyweights. In the store sheep pens good 2-th ; s. experienced a good sale with prices for young ewes hardening. Fat cattle and dairy lines were at bite rates.
