ONLY ONE BID AT IMPORTANT LAND SALE. 1900 ACRES OFFERED UNDER HAMAIER Only one bidder out of a room containing fifty farmers was discovered on Saturday morning when tho trustees of the late Air. T. Saunders offered the well known Glen Oroua estate for auction. The land, situated sixteen nulcs from Palmerston North, is recognised ns an excellently developed area, ex tending over 1914 acres. The property was offered for salo to enable the trustees to wind up the estate, and the auction was expected to bo one of the most important in tne Alnnawatu for some time. Air Saunders had farmed the land for thirty years, establishing a fine reputation for his products. However, when the first lot, one of 1546 acres carrying t.ho homestead, is put up, there was not a single bid. For the second lot of 368 acres, carrying two homes and suitable for immediate subdivision into two farms, the only bid was one of £25 per acre, which was away below reserve. Tho lots we: cordingly passed in, and it was announced they would be available for private treaty. The terms of sale by auction asked for ten per cent of purchase money with tho fall of tho hammer, and ~ie balance by tho end of March.
