He Arrested His Own Son

Summoned for traffic offences, a youth, disappeared. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Ho returned to England—from Palestine —recently and met a police-constable—his father. <‘My son,” said the constable, ‘“I must arrest you.” The story was told at Highgate, when Oonnis J. Nagel (18), of York road. New Barnet, was lined. £1 for driving without care, 5s for not displaying an “L” sign, and ordered to pay £2 7s costs. Mr Springer (for Nagel) said ho was summoned three months ago and did not appear. Ho could not bo traced. Nagel now said ho left home because he was “sacked” by his employer. He feared to tell his people. On the South Coast he joined a boat and went to Palestine. He returned homo and his father arrested him. Mr Springer said the son's absence caused his parents great anxiety. The father looked much happier now than ho did throe months previously. Charges of driving dangerously and not having an insurance policy were dismissed.
