Velvet over lace, or velvet over lace-trlmmed 3atln is favoured, anef ensembles Include wide-legged pyjama’ trousers, in a contrasting or colour. Tomato soup made with milk often curdles, due to the acid in the tomatoes. Just as the milk boils add a pinch of carbonate of 60da. Do not boil after this, but thoroughly heat the soup. Turquoise coral or gold are the Jewellery accessories which accompany black frocks. A four-stranded twisted necklet of turquoisft is particularly effective. Gramophone records may be washed gently with a warm lather. Dry at once.
As well as suits, two-piece dresses with jumper-like jackets designed with peplums are being made from washable materials. They have square neck-lines and smoothly-fltting bodies, and the skirts are only slightly circular.
Aluminium may be brought, to the first, brightness by cleaning with a mixture of 30 grains of borax in a pint of water to which a few drops ol ammonia have been added.
