Women are startiug to go slim again, dressmakers are altering tlicir models, gymnastic instructors are preparing for a boom, chorus girls arc taking once more to strict dieting: AU because Hollywood, centre of tlio uatioual industry of America—beauty —has decreed a new 11 perfect iigure, the Streamline. A hundred girls have just been chosen to form a streamlined chorus for a new musical film. The ideal of tlio last three years has been decreed too short and too plump. The new streamlined perfection requires these measurements: — Height, sft Sin; hips, 3Gin; neck, 12Jin; thigh, 20iu; bust, 31 Jin; calf, 12Jin; waist, 2Gin; ankle, BJin; weight, Sst 131 b. A thousand girls applied for jobs in tho streamlined chorus. David Gould, dance director, picked 100. “I won’t have them too plump and curvy,’’ he said, ‘‘but for the perfect girl you must have the show girl who, with her streamlined figure, is at least sft Gin in height and weighs around Sst 131 b. “The show girls all have perfect figures and walk in perfect rhythm, but they don’t dance. In age they arc between 17 and 22.’’
