Fleetwood-Smith’s Match
LATE EDITION
WYATT’S FINE BATTING. POSSIBLE CHANGES IN AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Friday, 2 a.m. ADELAIDE, Feb. 4. C. G. Macartney commenting on the Test says: “The fourth Test doubts were dispelled to-day w'.len Floetwood-Smith bowled Hammond. Wyatt played FleetwoodSinith better than the others. Indeed I have seldom seen him so aggressive yet watchful. Ke was particularly severe on anything short or overpitched. “England’s task considering the state of the pitch and the deadly character of the spin bowlers was very heavy. It was almost too much to expect victory. “I cannot speak too highly of Fleetwood-Smith’s accuracy. Tho part he played in the success of this vital match was most noteworthy. “The deciding match now takes place in Melbourne and no doubt one or two changes will be made in Australia’s team. Badcock must be given another chance. He should replace Rigg, while McCormick may have to give way to the South Australian speed bowler Cotton. Chipperfield has honestly justified the confidence placed in him and he is certain of a place for some time to come. “Australia’s victory in the fourth Test was well won and for the first time during the present series was fought out in fine weather. The bowling and outcricket by the Australians was of such a high quality that England were not allowed to get on top at any stage.”
