“A Happy New Year, Cogs”!
Dear Cogs,—“Hello, Everybody!” as wc say over the air. The holidays have stretched out and stretched out so much that you have become lost in the mists of “Holiday Land,” and I am finding it hard to gather my big family in once more. I know there have been wonderful doings on land and sea and we, in the “Hubbery,” are longing to hear all about them. We have put Christinas away behind us but you must forgive me ior turning the clock hack for a moment while I say a great big “thank-you” for kind remembrances in the shape of flowers, cards and other gifts that arrived after we had gone into recess. There were visits from many Cogs during the holidays also—real rays of sunshine they brought to “the Den” because grey skies have been our portion for so many weeks. While you have been refreshing yourselves in mind and body I hope you have been making plans as to how we are to turn our big wheel round thi3 year so that it may bring stimulation to the family and happiness to others less fortunate. We faco another year with a little sadness because a number of our Cogs have grown up and are entering into greater responsibilities, which means they have spread their wings to fly .away. However, we shall watch over their progress and send them all our good wishes that they may continue to be “Companions of Gratitude.” There is joy also in the new year because it means we all have another chance to make good and to do those things we have left undone, and there are many new brothers and sisters who will be joining up to swell the family circle. Hurry up with your holiday news because soon your new schooling will begin and holiday experiences will be pushed into the background. Don’t forget the new' corner for “Nature Notes” and each week 1/- will be presented to the Cog sending in the best. “A Happy New Year” to you all. Your friend, THE HUB.
