Insuring Farm Workers
USE OF SODIUM CHLORATE AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. Tho insurance of farm workers i against possible risks arising from tho uso of sodium chlorate is a mutter of interest to farmers at present, and in the Waikato particularly doubts have arisen whether the ordinary policy cover in the case of infury while handling sodium chlorate. It wan learned m Auckland yesterduy that different policies have been adopted in this connection by the various companies, and that their decisions have generally been governed by their individual experience. An additional premium is charged by Homo companies if farm workers are called upon to handle explosives, acids or chemicals, sodium ehiorats being included under this genettri heading. Other companies, however, charge nothing extra to cover in their ordinary policies for farm workers the use of sodium chlorute, but stipulate ttTat the chemical is to bo used only for the p”r pose of killing ragwort.
