Air and Airs J. Commons, of Napier, are visiting Rotorua. Air H. G. Down, transferred form Christchurch, has taken up his duties as accountant in tho Chief Post Office, Napier. Airs J. J. Faulkner, with Miss Josie Faulkner, left for Masterton to stay for a week with Mrs.C. Vailance. Air E. Wall, of Hastings, is a judge in tho pig section at the Wairarapa P. and A. Society’s Show. Air Robert Fraser has returned to Whakatane from a four weeks’ fishing trip to Waikaremoana and Wairaumoana. He was the guest of Mr and % Mrs T. Powdrell, of Wairoa. Mr D. Mann, tho newly-appointed Hastings borough traffic inspector, from St. Kilda, Dunedin, has reported for duty. His wife and family accompanied him to Hastings. Mr H. V. Mountier, telegraph engineer at Napier, who has been transferred to Wellington, leaves Napier on 9 Wednesday week. His successor at Napier will be Mr E. Walpole, Gisborne. Air and Airs J. W. MacLachlan and daughter have left Hastings cn route to the Old Country. Mr and Mrs MacLachlan spent 25 years in New Zealand, the greater part in Hawke’s Bay. Dr. A- G. Clarke, who acted as medical superintendent of the Napier Hospital during tho absence on tuck leave of the medical superintendent. Dr. J. J. Foley, is to receive a letter of appreciation from the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board thanking him for tho capable manner iu which he carried out his duties and for the assistance he gave to the board. Dr. J, J. Foley, medical superintendent of , the Napier Hospital, who has been on sick leave for the last three months, was present at the meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board look- 1 ing greatly improved in health. He was warmly welcomed by the chairman, Mr 'C. Lassen, who expressed the hope that Dr. Foley’s health' was fuily restored. Dr. Foley briefly acknowledged the * board’s good wishes. Another link with the early organised colonisation of New Zealand has been severed with the death last week of Mr Gerald Sanderson Allom, of Havelock North, a son of the late Mr Albert James Allom, who arrived in New Zealand in 1842 as a member of a party of public school boys under Air Williams and was closely associated with Mr Edward Gibbon Wakefield both in the colony and abroad. Mrs T. White, Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs W. Richmond, King street, Hastings. Alias Marie Williams, Wanganui, is the guest of Miss Dorothea Norman, Napier, and was a bridesmaid at the Pidgeon—Hill wedding. Air and Airs U. J. Webber and Mr J. 11. Webber, Tomoana road, Hastings, have returned from a motor tour in the uorth. During their holiday they were the guests of Air and Mrs C. Hallctt, Otakin. Mrs Steele, Picton, is the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Steele, Henderson street, Otane. The Alisses Alarea and Frances Mitchell and Miss Nancy Crompton, Have-, lock North, are staying at Waimarama. Miss Jill Carey, New Plymouth, who has been spending a holiday in Hawke’s Bay, has returned home. Aliss AI. Elliot, Waitara, is visiting her sister in Hawke’s Bay. Mrs A. Young, Hastings, is visiting New Plymouth. Mrs E. W. Haldane has returned to Lower Hutt after spending several weeks with her sister, Mrs K. T. Chute, Norton, Tikokino. Mrs S. Howard, Oroua Downs, Foxton, is the guest of Mr and Mrs C. Parsons, Norse wood. Airs Bird, Oroua Downs, is staying for a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs George Christensen, South Norsewood. Mr F. W. Smith, who has been visiting Dannevirke, returned to Napier on 4 ' Saturday. Air G. E, Fowler, secretary-manager of tho Central Hawke’s Bay Power Board, has returned to Waipukurau from a fishing trip in the Taupo district
