All Saints’ Branch Of the Mothers’ Union
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Canon G. Y. Woodward presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of All Saints’ Branch of the Mothers’ Union held in the Girls’ Club room yesterday afternoon. Prior to the meeting a service was held in the Lady Chapel. The Annual Report. The report presented by the secretary (Mrs. C. E. Metcalfe) stated that eleven meetings had been held. Two admission services were held, when nine new members were admitted. A branch, of the Fellowship of Marriage was formed, Mesdames Tillick and Baker being the first members. Thanks were due to all speakers at meetings, to the organist (Mrs. Kush); to Mrs. A. J. Hunt for arranging the musical programme each month; to Mrs. E. J. Miller for acting as tea convener; and to Mrs. Briden-Jones, the representative on the National Council of Women for her report each month. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mrs. F. Buck, the branch’s representative on the Diocesan Council, after each council meeting. Canon Woodward iu commenting on the report, spoke of the small increase in membership during the past year and expressed the hope that the branch would grow more rapidly, as it should, in the future. However, the branch was to be congratulated on its very excellent year. The balance sheet presented by the treasurer (Mrs. J. Eckersley) showed a very creditablo balance of £5 15s 3d. The branch was congratulated on the balance sheet by Canon Woodward, who expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Eckersley for the splendid manner in which she had kept the accounts. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted: Enrolling member, Mrs. E. Dawick; president, Mrs. W. Langstone; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames H. G. Bagnall, 11. Finch, C. Martini, T. Hewitt; secretary, Mrs. C. E. Metcalfe; treasurer, Mrs. J. Eckersley; committee, Mesdames A. M. Kennedy, G. Davey, J. Lemberg, E. Briden-Jones, T. Ingles, H. Rndclilfe, I. E. Brougham, S. J. Bennett, H. G. Schwarz; Fellowship of Marriage representative, Mrs. A. Baker; tea conveners, Mesdames O. Dunstan, E. M. Ashcroft. In thanking the secretary (Mrs. Metcalfe) for her past services, Canon Woodward paid tribute to the splendid and tactful manner in which she had carried out all her duties. Canon Woodward also eulogised tho faithful work done by the treasurer, Mrs. J. Eckersley. Opportunity was taken by the members to make a presentation of a pocket wallet to Canon Woodward and a travelling cushion to Mrs. Woodward and to bid them “bon voyage.” Members were reminded of Mrs. Brougham’s garden party, which is to bo held early iu April to raise funds for the Melanesian Mission. I Tea hostesses, who served a dainty afternoon tea were Mesdames E. Da-
wick, G. Davey, J. Lemberg, E. M. Ashcroft and O. Dunston. Hospital visitors for tho coming month are Mesdames Miller and Brougham.
