Pahiatua Court
The monthly sitting of the Pahiatua Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr J. Logan Stout, S.M. As a result of a police visit to two hotels in Pahiatua recently, two men were called for being on licensed premises after hours. Each was fined £2 and I7s fid costs.
Gordon Hill, son of licensee of the Rutland Hotel was fined £2 and 10s costs for serving drink after hours, while Hugh McElroy was fined £1 anu 12s costs for procuring liquor on Sunday. Duko O'Rourke paid a penalty of £2 with 10s costs and L. Beech. £1 with 10s costs for being on licensed premises after hours.
Richard Field, who drove a motor-car without a tail-light in the Main street, was fined 10s and 10s costs.
Inspector Milne caught D. M. Conway carting wool from the Pori district without the necessary license. This cost defendant 20s and 10s costs.
G. Jensen aud A. O. Ferrick drove a passenger car without service license and was fined £2 with 10s costs.
Jack McLaren was fined £2 with 10s costs for carrying an overload on his lorry.
L. A. Gichard had been in the habit of pulling his butcher's van oh the wrong side of the road, stated Inspector Milne. He had been warned but still continued. Gichard was fined £2 and 10s costs for this dangerous practice.
Kenneth William Nilssen, who drove a car at a speed in excess of the prescribed limit over a piece of new tarsealing in the Eketahuna county, was fined £2 with 10s costs.
