Palmerston North Branch Of the Plunket Society
The Palmerston North Branch of the Plunket Society held the first monthly meeting for the year in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon, Miss M. McLagan presiding. Also present were Mesdames A. Coombs, A. E. Mansford, T. J. Rodgers, G. C. Petersen, K. Garland, T. F. Fairbrother and M. Aitchison (secretary).
Apologies were received from Mesdames H. B. Free, A. Grigor, W. G. Black, J. G. Crooks, H. L. Collinson, L. A. Ferguson, and R. T. Tidswell. The president (Mrs A. Coombs) extended New Year Greetings to all present. Arrangements were made in connection with the “street day," to be held next month. A special meeting is to be held early in the month to finalise matters. The Plunket nurses wrote thanking the society for their Christmas gifts and conveying New Year greetings. Notification was received that a further payment of £75 on the legacies that would be made from the J. Balsillie Estate, was being forwarded to the society. Plunket Nurse’s Reports. The Plunket nurse (Miss 1. M. Lockwood) in her report for December, stated that 177 visits had been paid to homes and visits to office totalled 1305 (adults 649, babies 609, older children 47). Thirty-nine new cases were added to the books. Parcels of clothing were gratefully acknowledged from Mesdames Rogers, E. Graham, Hirschberg and Port. During the month five visits had been paid to Foxton, where 11 visits were paid to homes and visits to office to-i tailed 207 (adults 103, babies 84, older children 20). There were five new cases.. Sales for the month of Karilac, Karii, Kariol, etc., amounted to £22 17s sd, while subscriptions were received from Mesdames W. H. Laird, R. B. Peacock, I. B. Beale, S. L. Laurenson, J. E. Sherwood (5s each), Mrs. M. Ivebbell (£1 Is). These amounts, together with £1 12s 7d accrued from the collection box brought the total receipts to £26 16s. The January report also presented stated that during the month 131 visits ! had been paid to homes while visits to office totalled 1171 (adults 579, babies 551, older children 41). Twenty-nine new cases were added to the books. Parcels of clothing had been kindly sent by Mrs. Seymour, Mrs. Mills, Miss Pattrick, Mrs. Satley. Four visits were paid to Foxton, where visits to office totalled 130 (adults S 3, babies 53, older children 14). There were two new cases. Sales of Karilac, Karii, Kariol, etc., I amounted to £l4 19s 4d during the ! month, a subscription of 5s was received from Mrs. O. Maitland, and a donation of 5s from Mrs. D. McKay. This, together with 18s lid from the collection box, brought the total receipts to £l66s> 3d.
