Feilding Show Fat Cattle

CHILLED BEEF CLASS JUDGING Yesterday afternoon at Messrs Thos. Borthwick's works the cattle entered in the chilled beef class at the Feilding show were slaughtered and judged as to their suitability for the chilled beef trade. The Meat Board's grader, Mr. J. Drysdale, was the judge and made the following awards:—H. B. Johnston 1 and v.h.c,., 11. A. Stewart 2, W. G. Booth 3. All the exhibitors are from tho Feilding -district and Air. Johnston takes the cup awarded by Alessrs Borthwick for this class. Last year Air, Booth was the successful competitor. Commenting on tho exhibits, Mr. Drysdale said that pen No. 26 (exhibited by Air. Johnston) was over 7201b5. weight and the two carcases were really outstanding but wero definitely not suitable for chilling. Tho first prize pen were a nice pair but a little bare on the buttocks and shoulders. The second prize pen wero similar to the first but not quite so well covered. One beast in the third pen was described as being of beautiful colour, whilo the other was a little tinged. Tho whole class showed a little plain on tho buttocks and shoulders and could have done with a little more finish. The carcases were fat enough inside.
