Army, Navy and Air Force Club
A financial statement ia connection with the running of the Army, Navy and Air Force Club in Palmerston North was presented by Mr. K. A. Henderson at a mooting yesterday of Zone D I*atriotic Committee.
Mr. Henderson pointed out that, in addition to the donations made by Palmerston North citizens, amounting to £451 16s 4d, additional funds amounting to £135 9s 5d had been obtained up to date from, the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council, towards tho expenses of running tho club, aud further funds would be received from this source. Citizens could, therefore, rest assured that the funds being raised through the Patriotic Shop were being used lor the benefit of tho club for soldiers in Palmerston North, as well as other soldiers’ institutions in the Wellington Province, whore our local soldiers received many benefits. The financial statement covered the period from December 7, 1939, to September 7, 1940. Receipts were? Donations in cash £371 6s 4d, donations in furnishings £so IQs, grants from Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council £135 Qs sd; total, £567 5a 9<], Items of expenditure were; Wages £l9O 9s, rent £SB, furnishings £134 14s 3d, alterations, renovations aud improvements, etc., £lls 18s 4d, advertising, stationery, telephone, etc., £l7 12s 3d, supplies and entertainments £26 7s Bd, subsidy bus service Qhakea to Palmerston North £24 15s 6d; total, £567 17s. Expenditure thus exceeded receipts,by Us 3d,
