Obituary
MR. W. G. HAYWARD There passed away at a private hospital in Palmerston North, recently, Mr. William Goode Hayward. The late Mr. Hayward was born at Long Sutton, Somerset, in 1855, and was educated at Sherbourne College, England. He was a surveyor and civil engineer by profession. He came to New Zealand by the ship City of Vienna about 60 years ago and surveyed the block in the North Island then known as tho Fortymile Bush. In 1599, at St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, he married Miss Anne Symes, of Puddletrenthide, England. After his marriage the late Mr. Hayward purchased property in the Wairarapa and Manawatu and farmed successfully for many years. He retired about twenty years ago to Feat.herston Street, where he resided until he entered hospital a few weeks ago. Mr. Hayward is survived by his widow, one son and one daughter (Air. W. H. Hayward and Miss A. Hayward). Air. H. M. Hayward, of Lower Hutt, is a brother.
