ON THE INCREASE
UNEMPLOYMENT IN AMERICA
(United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) • (Received Bth January, 9.25 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 7th January. In a statement before the Senate Appropriations Committee to-day the chairman, Mr Woods, of the IToo\ oi committee on employment, estimated that there were between 4,000,000 and 5,000,000 unemployed in the United States. He said that unemployment was increasing, and he did not believe that the situation would improve-until the spring.
