CONDITIONS IMPROVING Wellington, This Day. Situation: A depression centred over Taranaki is moving slowly to the south-east. Forecast to 5 p.m. Saturday: Light to moderate variable winds, weather dull and cool with some further drizzle or rain, but improving to-morrow. Further outlook: Conditions becoming fair. Showers of thick driving rain continued steadily throughout yesterday and last night and by 9.30 a.m. to-day the rainfall for the past 24 hours totalled .83 of an inch. Although there were occasional showers during this morning and the skies remained overcast. conditions showed a slight improvement. Temperatures were warm and there was practically no wind.
