COLLISION ON APPLEBY BRIDGE

Two cars which collided on the Appleby Bridge on Wednesday afternoon blocked traffic for a short time. A heavy sedan, driven by Mr A. Brown, of Redwood’s Valley, was almost across the bridge when a light car driven by Mr W. S. Howson. of Nelson, came up in- approach and on to the bridge. Both drivers applied their brakes, but the wet boards of the wooden decking of the bridge prevented the tyres from gripping and the cars slid forward and came into collision. No one was injured. but both cars were damaged.
