BALLOTED MEN DRAFTED

Masterton, Jan. 4. The labour position at the Waingawa Freezing Works is still acute, and it has been necessary to direct over 30 men of the 18-20 years group included in the last few ballots for work there. An appeal recently made to farmers to come forward for work at the works, or to release men for the purpose, met with a poor response. Mr R. W. Kebfcell. chairman of the Wairarapa Primary Production Council, again appeals to farmers to give some assistance in relieving the position.
