THE FOOD VALUE OF FISH.
Fish is an essential food, and at least seven meals a week should contain fish as its chief article of diet. Fish not .only builds up the brain, but it renews the supply of what is known ..as the "grey matter" in the brain, the source of supply of all mental power. Fish, as a diet, is also of value to the .-nerves, especially the optic nerve.'For persons doing work, or work involving nervous and mental strain, no food is so nourishing and renewing as fresh fish. The body calls to be supplied with fish. _' The eyes need fish, and a plenteous* diet of fish will give improved eyesight. Of course, the fish, whenever possible, .should be fresh. Canned fish is not recommended by doctors. In Wellington there is no difficulty in obtaining - absolutely fresh fish. Fish that can be guaranteed; and if any Wellington residents- are dissatisfied with their fish supplier they can rely upon getting the best from either -the Hawke's Bay Fisheries Company or the • Dominion Fish Supply, in Courtenay Place. At both these places fish fresh from trawlers operating at Napier is received daily. The varieties are schnapper, terakihi, gurnet, flounders, •soles and others, - including, of course, the popular crayfish and lobster. At either depot the supply is always fresh, and as the nutriment value of fish is above that of other foods many will be glad -to know' where to obtain a selectio'n that can be relied upon.***
