THE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

TO TUB EDITOR. Sir, —In your report of the proee°<lm*> t the Grammar School Board of GovJm, yesterday, Colonel Haultain is reported 2 have said "that it had been stated at ft Board of Education that the time of th' Treasurer was more occupied by GrammJ School affairs than by those of the Board" I wish to assure Colonel Haultam that this statement, by whomsoever made to him not correct. I take the opportunity to add that no statement whatever m questions of finance, or on the work of the Treasury, could have been made with L authority, as I have not been consulted oa any proposals or arrangements iluriug mv tenure of office as Treasurer. I am amused at hearing through your columus, of the liberal provision proposed for aiding the Treasurer's "department" by givina lad "to call over" figures! ft displays entire ignorance of what the Treasurer has had to do. However, I leave these matters to my sucosssor. p ot my own part I desire only that it should be distinctly understood I am nut in the slightest degree responsible for any of the proposals made by the chairuim for the future management of affairs. I am still more anxious that it should be understood I am not connected, directly or iudirectly, with the very great injustice done by a majority of the Board to one of its own officers, and done to those whom it deluded into applying for an office already given away, when appointing successor. —I am, c&c, i\ J. Mos?.
