The s.s. Oreti arrived from the South at f> 30 a.ru. «n Saturday. The purser kindly furnished the following report of the passage, together with passenger list : — Auivrd at Wellington from the South on the "21st instant at 430 p.m.; left again on the 22nd at G p.m., and arrived at Wanganui at S a.m. on the 23rd ; left again at 3 p.m. on the 25th, and arriv.d at Taranaki on the 2Cth at Sa.in.; left at 10.30 a.m. same day. and arrived as above. She is announced to return South at 4 p.m. to-d:iy. The s.s. Lalla Rookh leaves for Waitara at noon to-d .y, and on Thursday next for Raglan. Ilis Excellency the Governor and suite came I out to Onehunga in a carriage on Saturday night. Superintendent Thomson, who, with a body of his force, had arrived by omnibus half an hour earlier, were dr\wn up in open order on the wharf near the Hinemoa's gangway, and after seeing His Excellency safely on board the steamer, they returned to town. The Hon. the Premier had Arrived by carriage at 10 o'clock. The Hon. the Attorney-General came out by the 11.15 train. The s.s. Hinemoa, with the vice-regal party on board, steamed for Wellington shortly after daylight yesterday morning. The Union S.S. Co.'s 5.5. Taiaroa arrived from Southern ports yesterday morning. We are indebted to Mr. W. H. Stodard for latest files and the following report:—Left Port Chalmers at 1 p.m. on the 220 d, and arrived at Akaroa at G a.m. on the 23rd ; sailed again at 8 a.m.. and arrived at Lyttelton at 12.30 p.m. ontho2ord; sailed again at 10 p.m., andarrived at Wellington .it 2 p.m. on the 24th ; sailed again at noon on the I~>Ji\, and arrived at Picton at 5 p.m ; sailed again at 7.30 p.m., and arrived at Nelson at 3 a.m. on the 2Gth : sailed again at 3 p.m.. and arrived at Taranaki at 7.30 a.m. on the 27th ; sailed agaidat 3 p.m., and arrived at Oiic-hunga wharf at G a.m. Fine weather and smooth water. The Taiaroa returns South at 5 p.m. to-morrow.
