EPSOM RACES. "As playful as Peri's just loosed from their cages." THESE Races will take place at Epsom Race Course, on the Great Manukao Road, about 3 miles from AUCKLAND, THE SECOND WEEK OF NOVEMBER. First Race. Handicap sweepstakes of 2 Sovereigns each, for all ages and weights. P. P., T. Y. C. Second Race. The Auckland Cup, for all ages. Two years old, 7 stone—3 years and upwards, 10 stone. T. Y. C. Two Sovereigns entrance, half forfeit. Third Race. The Ladies' Purse, with 5 Sovereigns added from the Racing Fund, for all ages and weights. One mile heats. Horses to be entered on or before the 1st of October next, at Mr. Wood's, "Royal Hotel," Prince-street, Auckland. ROMAN CATHOLIC CHAPEL. A GENERAL Meeting will be held at Mr. Patrick Donovan's new house, Shortland Crescent, on Monday, 20th September, when the Friends of our Religion are ernestly requested to attend. AT a Meeting held at Auckland, on Monday, 23rd August, 1841, it was proposed by the Members of the Committee, that Mr. Phillip Callan, Mr. Patrick Donovan, and Mr. John Oakes, do act as Trustees for the Funds of the Subscriptions; also, they are empowered to receive all monies subscribed, and place the same in the Auckland Bank, and their names to be sufficient to withdraw the same for all purposes connected with the erection of the Roman Catholic Church.
