The steamship Albion left for New Zealand on Friday evening last, but returned to port yesterday, owing to her machinery having become deranged. THE DYNAMITE OUTRAGES. London, Juno 1. There is still no clue to the perpetrators of the recent dynamite outrages. (SPECIAL TO DOTTED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, June 1. The inhabitants of Cayenne have petitioned M. Ferry not to send Recidivistes there, and it is believed that the Government will withdraw the Bill, or at least insert provisions which will cause its rejection. The Senate Committee has reported upon it, but the tenor of the report is unknown. THE SORATA’S MEAT. The Sorata has arrived with her meat in excellent condition. NOT GUILTY. Hugh Shortland, arrested on a charge of murdering his wife, has been discharged from custody, and the charge withdrawn. It is reported that Miss Fortescue’s case for breach of promise against Lord Garmoyle has been settled. M. Labouchere has been appointed Governor of New Caledonia, as Capt. Barriero desires to retire. Mr T. G, Dangar, M.L.A. of Sydney, has entertained the Australian cricketing team at a banquet.
