CATHOLIC YOUNG MEN’S CLUB.

Tiio eleventh half-yearly meeting of the Catholic Young Men's Club was held last evening. The Rev Father O’Shea,, S.M., presided. The report for the half-year just ended stated that the membership was 150. The debt on the billiard table was reduced during the term under notice by ten guineas subscribed by Mr Martin Kennedy. There is now only .£l9 owing on the table, and this it is anticipated will be paid within six months. The balance-sheet disclosed the fact that over .615 was outstanding for subscriptions, and in tho report it was stated that members who are in arrears will bo debarred from making uso of tho amusements in. the hall. Tho half-year ■was started with a credit balance-of .£9 13s Bd, but owing- to various causes the balance at the end of the term was only 16s 3d. On the motion of Mr J. J. Callaghan, seconded by Mr W. Healy, the report and balance-sheet were adopted as read. The following officers wore eiectod:— Patron, Archbishop Kedwood (re-elected); president, Rev T. O'Shea, S.M. (re-elect-ed); vice-presidents, Messrs M. Kennedy, O. McArdie, L. Dwn-n, C. P. Skerrett, W. Misson, P. S. Garvey, P. O’Neill and Drs Cahill and Mackin (re-elected), and Messrs J. J. Callaghan and R. O’Connor; hon. secretary, Mr it. McKoewn (reelected); hen. treasurer. Mr T. O’Sullivan; hon. auditors, Messrs F. Kelly andM. J. Crombio; executive, Messrs P. McDonald, B. J. Fitzgibbon. \V. Hamilton, J. McGowan,.W. P. McLachlan (re-elect-ed), and C. Foley, G. Deo. J. O’Sullivan and L. Roichol. On the motion of Mr McDonald, seconded by Mr W. Healy, it was decided that tne executive be empowered to mirchase a piano. Subsequently debenture!! for over <£ls for this purpose wore taken up. Tho question of fending Brother Mark, late head of tho Marist Brothers’ School in Wellington, some token of appreciation and respect was brought before the meeting, and after several proposals had been made and discussed it was decided that an illuminated address bearing the signatures of former pupils of Brother Mark and of members of the Catholic Young Men’s Club be prepared and forwarded.
