BRITAIN'S SUPPORT, TEN THOUSAND POUNDS ALLOTTED. SPLENDID EXHIBIT EXPECTED. (Received March S, 10.10 pan.) LONDON, March 8. The Treasury has allotted £IO.OOO for ■flie British Government’s exhibits at the International Exhibition to bo opened at Christchurch next November. The New Zealand Government will defray cost of transit. Colonel Sir Charles Watson is arranging for exhibits on behalf of the Board of Trade, and Sir Isidore Spielman is arranging for art exhibits—both co-operating with Mr Reeves, High Commissioner for New Zealand. Mr Reeves anticipates a splendid collection, including many exhibits which wore shown at tho St. Louis World's Fair.
Colonel Sir Charles M. Watson was secretary to the Royal Commission for the '3t. Louis Exhibition, and was then appointed Commissioner-General in connection with Britain's representation at the great fair of 1204. Sir Isidore Spielman has taken un the promotion of art exhibitions in a more serious way than that of a pastime.’ Ho has been closely connected with most of the leading art exhibitions for many years, was assista?*«ecre*ai7 10 . British Commission at St. Louis, and is the author of an illustrated volume on the British action at that fair.
