LONDON COLLEGE MUSIC

THEORETICAL RESULTS. The following results of the examinations in musical knowledge, held in Newtown School, on December 9th last, have been handed us by Mr H. Muller, local representative for the Wellington centre. The maximum points obtainable are 300, and students must gain at least 65 in order to ensure a pass ccrtilicate; 65 to 79 will entitle to a second-class certificate; and from 80 to 100 a first-class certificate. Eighteen entries were received; all passed and received first-class certificates. The teachers names appear in parenthesis: Elementary—Laura J. Smith (Mr H. Muller), 99; Ethel Blackie (Mr H. Edith Sylvia Cheesman (Mr G. Ninness) 95; Ellen Elizabeth Upton (Mr H. Muller). 91; Wilfred Elviss Pointon (Mr G. Ninness), 91; Charles T. Young 91. Lillie C. Francis 88, Martha Pratt 87, James Sloan 86, George W. Barker 85, Jessie Rainie 85, May S. Carter 83, Lily Pratt 81 (all Mr Muller). Junior pass—Laura J. Smith (prize, winner) 100, Ethel Blackie 99, Ellen Elizabeth Upton 98, Martha Pratt 95, Lily Pratt 82 (all Mr Muller). ~ The entries for next examination, to be held on June 16th, are due Monday next, March 12th.
