A conference of representatives of the northern coal owners and miners held a closed doors discussion on the proposed new general agreement. It is understood that they arrived at an agreement to raise the selling price of coal to 8s per ton, commencing at the New Year, and increase the hewing rate to 3s 2d, based on a sliding scale.
