A heavy fall of coal has taken place in the East Greta colliery, and three men are entombed. Received November 18, at 10 p.m. Sydney, November 18. The men entombed are David Gronon (married, four children), Berdo Mondeth (married, one child), Steven Barnes (single). They were engaged deepening the river tunnel. Just as three other men are entering tho cage to go below to relieve them the roof collapsed, cutting off communication with the surface and blocking exits to other parts of the mine. Rescue parties were immediately at work, but, owing to the large amount of debris, and continued falls from the roof, progress was slow, and hopes of saving the men were remote. Even if they escaped crushing, probably they would be suffocated or drowned in the rush of water. Received November 19, at 0.40 a.m. Sydney, November 18. Ib is circumstantially stated that a caucus of the party favorably considered overtures made on that behalf, that if the tea and rice duties were passed ib would enable provision bo the extent of L 50,000 or L 60,000 to be made for old age pensions. Carter eaßily won the shoot-off. The Presbyterian General Assemb'y decided that a new mission steamer to be called the Day Spring shall be built.
