Canterbury Grain and Produce Markets.

(Lyttelton Times). Matters are very quiet in the £>rain market just now, and the business doing is only of a hand-to-mouth nature. Millers hold full stocks of wheat of all classes, and do not seem inclined to make offers for any lines, that are on the market. The only sales recorded are those of one or two small lines of Hunter's White at 3s 3d delivered at the mills. A' good deal of fowl wheat is now> offering from the south at 3.? Id at Christchurch, but even at this price it is hard to quit. More sales may be expected to be made shortly on a lower basis than is now ruling, as a good many holders must clear stores in order to make room for the wool clip, which is now coming forward freely. The market is now pretty full of oats, both local and southern, a wood many of" Southland B grade being offered at 2s 2d to 2s 3d delivered at Christchurch, but no sales of importance have taken place. The rise of LlO per ton in clover seed reported by cable from London on Tuesday, does not appear to have affected the local market, as stocks here are fairly large, but complaints are made, of an outside firm offering very inferior and mixed samples at rates which are much lower than those ruling in the London market. The samples are 3aid to be imported, seed, but experts pronounce it be be colonial, and very poor at that. The following are quotations : Wheat. —Pearl and Tuscan 3s Id ; Hunter's 3s sd.
